About Me
Richard Zywotkiewicz

After graduating form York University’s prestigious Film Dept., Richard Zywotkiewicz had the very good fortune of serving an apprenticeships with two of Canada's leading international film directors David Cronenberg.on the cult classic “VIDEODROME”, as well as working under Bob Clark on the most successful Canadian film of all time, “PORKY’S”. Moving out west, he sought to establish himself as an independent writer, producer and director. While establishing a niche for writing (several screenplays have already been produced), directing a feature has been an elusive proposition. An early horror script, “THE GHOSTING”, was filmed in Spokane, Washington in 1990 by Broadway West Productions, and “BEYOND REDEMPTION” (aka "TWIST OF FAITH"), for Prophesy Pictures International and starring Andrew McCarthy and Michael Ironside hit the cameras in 2001, shot in Vancouver.
In early Y2K, Zywotkiewicz threw caution to the wind and began work on “STIFFED”, a labour of love that was self-financed and saw the writer/producer/director filling a multitude of other shoes as well. The gritty black comedy was completed in Calgary on a shoe-string budget and premiered at the 2005 CALGARY INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL.
Richard has been to several of the major world film markets; Cannes, the American Film Market (AFM) and has spent extensive periods of time in Hollywood. He’s attended numerous workshops under Hollywood legends, Ted (“MAGNUM FORCE”) Post and writing workshops under the biggest names in the business. Though recently, Richard Zywotkiewicz has focused his attention on teaching, he continues to write prolifically for both TV and film.
